SAAF Team Visits CIVISCE in Kigoma to Establish a New Partnership

CIVISCE recently welcomed two team members from its new partner organization, SAAF, to the CIVISCE office in Kigoma Ujiji Municipality. Aung Htoo, SAAF’s Financial Management Advisor from the UK, and Phonsina Archane, the Programme Advisor, Technical Allyship from Kenya, visited to discuss project implementation plans and deepen collaboration with CIVISCE.

This partnership marks the beginning of a 17-month project, with SAAF as the donor and CIVISCE as the implementing partner. The project, titled “Improving Post-Abortion Care (PAC) Services in Humanitarian Contexts,” aims to strengthen healthcare services in humanitarian contexts to better support vulnerable communities.

During the visit, Mr. Aung Htoo met with CIVISCE’s finance team to provide technical assistance, expressing appreciation for CIVISCE’s established financial management systems. His feedback underscored the strong foundations CIVISCE has put in place to ensure transparent and effective financial practices, which are crucial to the project’s success.

The SAAF team also had the opportunity to meet with the Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS), one of CIVISCE’s key partners, at Makere. In discussions with TRCS, they explored avenues to build the capacity of healthcare providers and Health Information Teams (HIT) or Community Health Workers (CHWs) under the new project. This collaboration aims to provide enhanced support to health workers, ensuring they can effectively deliver PAC services in challenging humanitarian settings.

Mr. Aung highlighted SAAF’s commitment to making a meaningful impact through this partnership, stating, “SAAF, hosted by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), is dedicated to working closely with CIVISCE to create positive change in the community.”

This visit symbolizes a strong beginning for CIVISCE and SAAF’s shared commitment to advancing healthcare services in Kigoma, particularly in humanitarian contexts. The project represents a significant step forward in improving the lives of vulnerable populations and fostering sustainable healthcare solutions.
