Clear Vision for Change (CIVISCE) is a women-led, women’s rights nonprofit organization registered under the NGO Act No. 24 of 2002 of the United Republic of Tanzania (Registration No: 00NGO/00008136). Headquartered in Kigoma Ujiji Municipality, Kigoma region, CIVISCE operates as a community-driven organization, working at the grassroots level to empower women, young women, and adolescent girls. We tackle gender inequality, economic marginalization, gender-based violence (GBV), limited access to sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), and the impact of climate change through participatory and integrated solutions.
Our Mission
To empower women, young women, and adolescent girls by advancing gender equality, economic opportunities, climate resilience, reproductive justice, education access, and human rights in Tanzania.
Our Story
CIVISCE was founded by a young feminist researcher whose gender-focused study in rural Tanzania exposed deep-rooted gender inequalities and systemic barriers affecting women and girls. This research led to the creation of a grassroots women’s rights movement, aimed at economic and social empowerment, advocacy against gender-based violence (GBV), and reproductive health justice.
With support from local feminists and community leaders, CIVISCE officially launched as a women-led NGO, mobilizing self-help strategies for women and communities while advocating for policy reforms and systemic change. Within two years, CIVISCE expanded partnerships with national and international development organizations, implementing programs in:
Economic and social empowerment through community microfinance groups (CMG), microfinance, and entrepreneurship.
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response, integrating legal support and survivor-centered services.
Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), including comprehensive sexuality education and harm reduction models.
Climate justice and resilience projects supporting sustainable livelihoods and clean energy access.
Community-Driven Education Support, enhancing educationalaccess, retention, Community-Driven Education Support programs, and adolescent wellbeing.
