Approach

CIVISCE adopts a community-driven, participatory approach, ensuring that our interventions are tailored to the needs and aspirations of the people we serve and guarantee sustainability. We collaborate with local, national, and international partners to amplify our impact and build stronger, more resilient communities.

  1. Community-Led Solutions: We believe that lasting change comes from within communities. CIVISCE works closely with local communities, ensuring that their voices and ideas drive the development process. By fostering local ownership, we empower women, young women and adolescent girls to identify their needs and co-create solutions. This ensures that our interventions are culturally relevant, sustainable, and aligned with the aspirations of out target beneficiaries.

  1. Gender Equality and Inclusion: CIVISCE is deeply committed to gender equality, ensuring that women, young women and adolescent girls, and other marginalized groups have equal access to opportunities and decision-making processes. Our gender-sensitive programming addresses structural inequalities and empowers women and girls to become leaders in their communities. We engage men and boys as allies in promoting gender equality and preventing gender-based violence, recognizing that social change requires the involvement of all community members.

  1. Capacity Building and Skills Development: We invest in building the capacity of individuals, community organizations, and local leaders. CIVISCE provides training, mentorship, and resources to enhance skills in areas such as entrepreneurship, leadership, advocacy, and service delivery. Our aim is to equip communities with the knowledge and tools they need to sustain progress, even after our direct involvement ends.

  1. Partnership and Collaboration: Collaboration is central to our work. CIVISCE partners with local government authorities, international agencies, and private sector stakeholders to amplify our impact. Through these partnerships, we are able to leverage resources, share expertise, and create a coordinated response to the challenges facing our communities. We also prioritize partnerships with community-based organizations to ensure our programs reach the grassroots level.

  1. Advocacy and Policy Engagement: CIVISCE engages in advocacy at local, national levels to influence policies that affect our target communities. We work to raise awareness on issues like gender-based violence, climate change, and sexual and reproductive health rights, advocating for laws, policies, and practices that protect and promote the rights of vulnerable populations. Our advocacy efforts are grounded in the lived experiences of the people we serve, and we aim to elevate their voices in decision-making spaces.

  1. Sustainability and Resilience Building: Sustainability is a key pillar of CIVISCE’s approach. We are committed to implementing environmentally sustainable practices in all our programs. This includes promoting climate-resilient livelihoods, supporting reforestation and conservation efforts, and educating communities about the importance of environmental stewardship. Our goal is to build the resilience of communities to climate change and other shocks, ensuring they are better prepared to face future challenges.

  1. Integrated Programming: CIVISCE takes an integrated, multi-sectoral approach to development, recognizing that the challenges faced by communities are interconnected. For example, economic empowerment initiatives are paired with GBV prevention programs to address the underlying factors that contribute to inequality and violence. Similarly, our climate justice work intersects with efforts to promote sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that economic growth does not come at the expense of the environment. By integrating our programs, we create comprehensive solutions that address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation.

  1. Human Rights-Based Approach: At the heart of all our work is a commitment to human rights. CIVISCE recognizes that poverty, gender inequality, and environmental degradation are often the result of systemic rights violations. Therefore, we adopt a human rights-based approach, ensuring that our programs not only provide immediate relief but also challenge the structures that perpetuate discrimination and inequality. We empower individuals and communities to claim their rights and hold duty-bearers accountable.
