Clear Vision for Change (CIVISCE) and other like-minded civil society organizations (CSOs), along with financial institutions working in Kigoma, proudly participated in the “Badilika, Tokomeza Ukatili” (Change, End Violence) campaign held this week in Kigoma. The campaign, organized by Enabel, the Belgian Development Agency, aimed to strengthen collective action against gender-based violence (GBV) in the region.

The event was officiated by Hon. Dorothy Gwajima, Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, who emphasized the urgent need for intensified strategies to address GBV, particularly in high-incidence areas like Kigoma.

“We must change our approach and intensify efforts. GBV is affecting thousands of children and women in Tanzania,” said Minister Gwajima.

The campaign is part of Enabel’s larger initiative, “Wezesha Binti”, which seeks to reach over 150,000 people in Kigoma Region over two years by fostering safe and gender-equal environments for youth and women.

During the event, Kigoma District Executive Director Mr. Mgwano Zota shared the municipality’s plan to screen children during health clinic visits to detect abuse early – a proactive step toward prevention.

Ms. Jovita Mlayi, Gender and Inclusion Specialist at Enabel, explained that the campaign aims to empower community members to become ambassadors for change, shifting harmful norms and behaviors.

CIVISCE’s participation reaffirms its commitment to working collaboratively toward ending GBV and building inclusive, safe communities across Kigoma.
